Cabrillo National Monument Travel Poster

from 2.00

This Cabrillo National Monument print is a unique tribute to the WPA posters that were created in the 1930’s and 1940’s. The WPA posters were originally constructed as a government initiative to generate interest in the national parks and improve park attendance. We have designed WPA travel posters and postcards featuring all 59 national parks to celebrate America’s diverse homeland and to encourage you to reflect on the rich history and beauty that each national park has to offer. We hope to inspire you to find your park and travel to the stunning landscapes which make America so great.

Cabrillo National Monument offers a superb view of San Diego's harbor and skyline and includes Old Point Loma Lighthouse, a San Diego icon since 1854.

As for the history of this remarkable monument: On September 28, 1542, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo landed at San Diego Bay. This event marked the first time that a European expedition had set foot on what later became the west coast of the United States. His accomplishments were memorialized on October 14, 1913 with the establishment of Cabrillo National Monument. A statue and museum in the Visitor Center commemorate Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's exploration of the coast of California.
